Born Brave

I often feel thrown into the deep end when everyone panics and it is up to the developer to make it all go away. Come on people, relax a bit. Anyway, who says it is a bug...It might be a potential feature. Wink Wink. I leave you with this picture, let me get back to crisis management.

Timbaland presents....CHRIS CORNELL?????

What?! Last night as I was flicking through the radio stations "this" started playing. I almost rolled my car when the DJ announced that it was in fact Chris Cornell ft Timbaland.

What would you get if you took one of the most iconic voices in modern hard rock and mixed it with one of the "hottest" producers of the past decade, known for his thick hip-hop beats and tricky time signatures? Their single watch out is a "stuck in your head" type of song, but wow,I can't help to think this is NOT Chris Cornell material.

Cornell said that it was his brother-in-law Nick, a nightclub owner in Paris, who originally suggested Timbaland might be a good person to remix some songs from Cornell's previous solo album, Carry On. But Cornell said once he approached Tim, the producer wasn't into doing just a few songs — he wanted to make a whole album.

However, the collaboration evolved into the duo writing and recording the entire scream album in just six weeks, notably with the conceptual direction of "tying it all together musically", which Cornell describes as "hearkening back to albums that I listened to when I was a kid, where the music never stops" and that it "begs to be listened to on headphones all the way through".

I would have never thought...I'm speechless...I really just don't know...

IT Geek or Serial Killer?

This is kind of creepy in a cool kind of way! Can you judge someone by looking at them?

By looking at a picture of a person, you have to decide if he is a computer geek or a serial killer. Go with your gut feeling and click on your choice.

There are 10 photos. Your score will be given at the end. Feel free to add you score as a comment on this post out of interest.

i-Traffic - n1 traffic cameras

Hi, I spend A LOT of time in traffic every single day. I live in Pretoria and I work in Johannesburg. That is about +-60km, one way. And with all of the roadworks for the 2010 soccer, it is a nightmare.

I know there are lots of other people that are in the same boat(hence all of the traffic), so here is my favourite traffic website. http://www.i-traffic.co.za/

On this website you can get a sneak peak of the photos taken by the highway patrol cameras and you can stream for up to 10seconds. It has up to date news on the roadworks and traffic incidents.

This site has spared me a lot of grief, hope it helps you too.

Frets on Fire

Frets on Fire (abbreviated 'FoF') is a free, open source game created by Unreal Voodoo in which players use the keyboard to play along with on-screen musical notes to complete a song. Frets on Fire was the winner of the Assembly 2006 game development competition.

I remember my first impressions still until this very day. I was Utterly despondent towards Guitar Hero or anything of the sort, so by my surprise my sister brought FOF home one night and I thought I'd give it a go.

To my amazement it really was (and still is :-)) alot of fun. Currently I have a HUGE FOF music library with Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock for my PS2.

This really is the stuff and I would recommend this to anyone....It's messing around while listening to music.... :-)

FoF game is available at fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/ and songs can be downloaded at www.fretsonfire.net/

B.T.W...Melissa doesn't want to play FoF with me anymore...apparently I am too good...But I say this is not the case fair ladies and gentlemen...she is just LAZY...and I think we must cheer her on....

READY?....ALL TOGETHER NOW!!!.....MELISSA....MELISSA.....MELISSA....MELISSA

The Killers - Human, Lyric Confusion

There has been considerable confusion and debate over the line "Are we human or are we dancer?" in the song's chorus. Yes not dancers...My friends all know that this line irritates me, so I did some research.

Entertainment Weekly's Pop Watch section called this line the "silliest lyrics of the week". They were puzzled by the interpretation, stating "most dancers are generally human". Ganz with Rolling Stone called the line "classic Killers' nonsense." So yes, it is not just me.

Many have incorrectly heard "denser" instead of "dancer", a change which significantly alters the interpretation of the song's meaning. On the band's official website, the biography section states that Flowers is singing "Are we human, or are we dancer?" and also says that the lyrics were inspired by a disparaging comment made by Hunter S. Thompson about how America was raising a generation of dancers.

So there you go. I hope this will sort out the confusion.

National Productivity Month is April 2009

Our darling President has announced the date for elections: Wednesday 22 April 2009. He couldn't have picked a "better" date if he tried. Not only is it a Wednesday, but he selected the only week in April that was until then a full working week. So far we have public holidays on 10th, 13th and 27th April, not to mention 1st May. Now add 22 April and the traditional "National Productivity Week" from 27th April to 1st May, becomes National Productivity Month, from 1st April to 1st May. That's 18 working days in a month.

Allegedly this was done in an attempt to keep citizens living outside of the country from voting this election. With the pending court application, we'll have to watch the news to see if they get away with it or not.

Well I'm an April baby, so it looks like a good month filled with a lot of time off.

MyCoke Blog shutdown

The blog where we have all been getting the latest info, pictures and videos on MyCokeFest is being sued. Coke has decided for some absurd reason that this blog is a threat. Honestly I don't understand how they can be so narrow minded.

The blog ( http://www.mycoke.co.za/) is in the top 25 blogs in South Africa, has been featured in the Times newspaper and has over 2000 people subscribed to updates. First thing that would come to mind is free publicity, not "let's shut them down".

The blog will be up until 16th of February, when unfortunately it will be closed down. So if you want to download some last pics, now is the time. :-(

Eddie Van Halen creates an indestructible guitar

The famous Dutch/American rock star Eddie Van Halen has some how created a new indestructible guitar with bosses of a top medical tool company. He is determined to ruin the lives of guitar smashers everywhere (and by extension, make the world 83 per cent less atomic punk).

The guitar is named after Van Halen's son, who plays bass in his father's band. The Wolfgang, features stainless steel frets, double custom-wound pickups, custom-made tuning machines, low-friction pots and five-piece binding on its body and headstock. And Van Halen knows that his new instrument is unbreakable, because he tried to trash it on the last tour.

"During the last show, I actually tried to break a Wolfgang, and it wouldn't break. I picked it up and I couldn't break the damn thing. I threw it up in the air, and later put it out in the rain. I picked it up half an hour later, and it was still in tune. It p**sed me off," Contactmusic quoted him as telling CNN. The price for Van Halen's new guitar has been set at 3,000 dollars.

Here comes another bubble

This is by far my favourite technology video. It's the story of my life. This song is so good and so on the dot right about the industry.

The only problem is, it is a very catchy tune and the words fit so perfectly, so every time the original song plays, I can't help but sing this one and no one knows what I'm talking about. So here, let me share this with you. Maybe you'll sing along with me next time.

Everyday Noah Kalina

For all of you that don't know Noah Kalina, he is the guy who has been taking a picture a day of himself everyday since 2000. This is truly amazing. I haven't seen such devotion in a long time. Respect.

This surely has to be one of the longest running art projects in the world. He has his own website where he posts all of his photos. See http://everyday.noahkalina.com/

Here is a you tube video of his photos. If you look closely you can watch his hairline get bigger, his eyes get baggier and how his beard and hair grows.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

T-Mobile Ad

Mobile operator T-Mobile launched a new ad campaign earlier this month featuring 350 dancers breaking into a mass dance routine at Liverpool Street station.

This was filmed by hidden cameras. Very very funny as no one except the dancers knew about this. As soon as you think a person is a London commuters, the person starts dancing along.
