Lucas-Arts steaming away

We have all come to love and hate steam especially here in South Africa. While we don't mind buying and activating games the constant download, unlocking and updating is hacking away at our bandwidth. This frustration is normally a source for uninstalling, but before you do i have some awesome news! Lucas-Arts has teamed up with steam and they are releasing old classics to download! They are making a bunch of bundles available over the year and we can all experience the old classics once more.

The first round of releases hit Steam on July 8 and includes these titles:

• Armed and Dangerous
• Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
• Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
• LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
• LOOM
• Star Wars Battlefront II
• Star Wars Republic Commando
• Star Wars Starfighter
• The Dig
• Thrillville: Off the Rails

Ooooh! Now where did i put my steam activation again?

  1. Sadly I'm unlikely to ever play these again...

And at the rate Steam is chowing my bandwidth, that might be a good thing!

Even after restoring a recent backup, Team Fortress 2 and L4D has already chowed up 2.5GB of bandwidth to update... and they're not done yet!

Valve really needs to revise steam's download logic. Really not an impressive app for the amount of money they make from it!

  2. Wow 2.5Gb would really make me cry. I wonder what is steams take on all this? Its like they figured 3rd world countries wont be able to pay for the games anyway so screw bandwidth consumption. What is it with big corporations and little countries? Guess we just don't matter and its gonna cost them too much to factor us in.
